Taxi Driving Tests for Greater Manchester Councils
We are a training company authorised to conduct the taxi driving test for the Tameside, Stockport, Bury, Bolton, Trafford and Rossendale councils.
To become a taxi driver a lot of local councils require you to take a seperate taxi test or taxi driving assessment. This test must be completed before you can apply to become a taxi driver.
The test is conducted by Mitchell's Taxi examners and is based on the DVSA driving test. the taxi test last around 40 minutes where certain competencies must be shown
Before booking your Taxi Driving Test please refer to the local council guidelines for Taxi Drivers as Council guidelines can be different for each council and may have different criteria.
There are 3 types of assessment you can take:
the standard driving assessment
the enhanced assessment - this includes a wheelchair exercise
the upgrade assessment if you’ve done the standard assessment and now want to do the wheelchair exercise
What you MUST bring with you for the test:
- Your photocard driving licence.
- If you have an old-style paper licence instead of a photocard, you must also bring a valid passport.
Failure to bring these will result in the test being cancelled and you will lose your fee.
The Taxi Driving Test is done in your own vehicle and is your responsibility to make sure it is road worthy and legal for the test.
Meeting the Examiner
Please be on time for your test as the Examiner will only allow 10 minutes after the start time of the test. After this time your test will be forfeited and refunds will not be given.
To Cancel or change a taxi test:
To cancel or change your taxi test you will need to give 7 clear days otherwise you will lose your fee.
This does not include the day of your test.
There is a £5.00 cancelation fee when canceling a test.
It is free to change a test.
